It has been one year since I watched a television documentary program which stated the Hoover Dam was the biggest, baddest, coolest dam in the world I got very mad because I knew that wasn't true.
That was when I started this web site, using this poll voting technique, to prove to the world the Itaipu Dam is much bigger than Hoover Dam.

river to "hold back" water and produce energy
using the force of the water. Many Dams

The Hoover Dam is located on the border of the states of Nevada and Arizona, in Black Canyon on the Colorado River. The dam is 726 ft high and 1244 ft long. The reservoir formed behind the dam, Lake Mead, is one of the largest man-made bodies of water in the world. Lake Mead covers an area of 603 sq km. The hydroelectric generators of Hoover Dam are capable of supplying almost 1.5 million Kw of power. It provides electricity to Arizona, Nevada, and southern California.

The world's largest hydroelectric power plant, is located on the border of Paraguay and Brazil. It took eighteen years to build and it costed of about \$18 billion U.S. dollars. The dam is administered by Itaipu Binacional, a joint Paraguayan and Brazilian government commission. The dam's complex stretches 4.8 miles across the Parana River and reaches the height of 643 ft. The man-made river that it holds back is 125 miles long and contains 23.5 million acre-ft of water.
